Fly There and Hire an Airport Transfer

If you’d rather plan your own trip, flying into Cappadocia is super easy—and usually the fastest option.

There are two main airports to choose from: Nevşehir (NAV) and Kayseri (ASR).

• Nevşehir Airport is closer to Göreme (about 40 minutes away), but it has fewer flights.
• Kayseri Airport, on the other hand, is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Göreme, but it offers more flight options and is often the cheaper choice.

How Long to Stay in Cappadocia

I recommend spending at least three days in Cappadocia.

My husband and I stayed for two nights and had three unforgettable days exploring the valleys, and fairy chimneys. We even eloped at sunrise, surrounded by balloons. We were able to check off everything on our list except actually flying in the hot air balloons.

If you’re planning to do a hot air balloon ride, definitely build in a backup day or two. Balloons get canceled often due to weather (ours did!), but most companies will rebook you for the next morning.

Unfortunately, we booked our departure flights to Kas (our next destination on our two-week itinerary) too early on our last day in Cappadocia and were unable to have them rebooked. We still had an amazing time and got our dream setting for our elopement, but honestly, I wish we had stayed one more day for another chance to catch that balloon ride.
