Where to Stay in Kas for First-Time Visitors

Is Kas the most underrated coastal town in Turkey? I’d argue yes—and knowing where to stay in Kas can make all the difference in how much you enjoy this charming seaside gem.

My husband and I spent five unforgettable days here on our mini honeymoon after eloping in Cappadocia, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots along the Turquoise Coast. We visited in April and loved using Kas as our base while we soaked up the Turkish Riviera.

We’ve stayed in our fair share of accommodations across Turkey, and I’m here to share what we learned so you don’t waste time (or money) figuring it out for yourself.

In this post, you’ll discover exactly where to stay in Kas based on your travel style and budget—from cozy boutique stays with sea views to stylish hotels steps from the action.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or just want a no-fuss guide to picking the perfect place, I’ve got you covered.

My #1 Pick: Payam Hotel
My #2 Pick: Atalante Hotel

Where to Stay in Kas

I highly recommend finding a spot near the Old Town and the main wharf area. This part of town is incredibly walkable, charming, and packed with all the things that make Kas special—like cobblestone streets lined with cafes, sunset-facing restaurants, and boutique shops.

Staying central means you’ll be right in the heart of the action without needing to worry about parking or transportation.

That said, there are also plenty of beautiful boutique hotels out on the Peninsula, offering a more secluded and luxurious experience. While the views are stunning and the properties are peaceful, keep in mind that staying on the peninsula usually means you’ll need a car or arrange transport into town.

If it’s your first time in Kas and you want convenience, easy access to everything, and a true taste of local life, Old Town is the way to go.

    FAQs About Staying in Kas

Still have a few questions about planning your stay in Kas? Here are the most common things travelers ask—and what you need to know before you go.

Is it worth staying in Kas?

Absolutely—Kas is 100% worth staying in.

It’s one of the most charming towns along the Turkish Riviera, with a laid-back vibe, stunning coastal views, and easy access to nearby beaches, islands, and ancient ruins. Whether you’re into boat trips, snorkeling, history, or just relaxing by the sea, Kas makes a perfect home base.

It’s also less touristy than other spots, so you get a more authentic, relaxed experience.

How Many Days in Kas is Enough?

I recommend spending at least 4-5 days in Kas to really soak it all in. The Turquoise Coast is absolutely stunning, and there are so many fun day trips you can take—like visiting the sunken city of Kekova, exploring ancient ruins, or paragliding in Oludeniz.

Kas is a perfect base for exploring the Turkish Riviera without feeling rushed. If you can squeeze in more time, do it—you won’t regret it.

How to Get to Kas Turkey

The easiest way to get to Kas is to fly into Antalya, which has the most flight options from other parts of Turkey.

We flew in from Cappadocia, then made the 3-hour drive down to Kas—which, by the way, is absolutely stunning as it winds along the coast.

You can either rent a car or book a private transfer. We used Welcome Pickups and highly recommend them—we booked several rides with them throughout our trip and always felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of.

Smiling, Kate in Kaş points at a small blue Citroën Ami with orange wheels and cafe branding, parked on a cobblestone street.

Do You Need a Car in Kas?

We chose not to rent a car in Kas, and honestly—it was the right call. Parking is limited, the streets are narrow, and traffic can get hectic, especially in high season.

Kas is super walkable, and most tours and excursions offer hotel pickup, so getting around is easy.

If you want a bit more freedom to explore nearby beaches, I recommend renting a Vespa for the day—it’s cheap and fun. Just be sure to go for the bigger scooter if you’re riding double; the hills are no joke, and we definitely struggled a bit with the smaller one. Still, we made it, and parking at the beaches was a breeze with the scooter.

Which is better, Kas or Fethiye?

If you’re torn between Kas and Fethiye, it really depends on what kind of trip you’re after.

Fethiye is bigger, busier, and has more nightlife and shopping, which can be great if you want a livelier scene. But Kas is quieter, more charming, and more affordable—perfect for travelers looking for laid-back coastal vibes and scenic beauty.

If you’re after a peaceful escape with tons of character, Kas wins hands down.
